Quick facts

Capital: Male – it’s pronounced Ma-lei and it’s the most densely populated island in Maldives

Transport: there are public ferries connecting all the local islands. If you’re heading to a resort, you’re likely to go there by chartered boat or sea plane!

Currency: Maldivian Rufiyaa, 10 rufiyaa = 5 hkd = 0.65 USD

Sim Card: you can buy both physical and e-Sim for Maldives. You should get WiFi at your resorts but if you’re island hopping, I recommend Dhiraagu.

Handy Apps: Nakaiy Nevi is a great local weather app

Language: the official language is Dhivehi, but most people speak English!
