Bulgaria
Bulgaria is one of the larger countries in the Balkans at the crossroad between East and West. The country is steeped in history, but also home to mountains, lakes, and a coastline by the Black Sea. I had only scratched the highlights on my visit and I can’t wait to go back.

Transport: I used Omio to book transport around Europe and it’s great to have all my tickets in one place. I only used buses and sometimes had to book locally.
Currency: Bulgarian Lev, 3 lev = 13 HKD = 1.66 USD. Card payments are generally accepted.
Sim Card: Many sim cards are valid for entire Europe
Handy Apps: TaxiMe for taxi in Bulgaria, and Google Translate was a great help with menus and museums.
Language: Bulgarian, which is similar to other Balkan languages.
