Quick facts

Capital: Rome – but almost each city in Italy is their own little kingdom back in the days

Transport: Italy has a great network of trains, and it’s best to book advance and I like using the app Omio. It can get expensive, so Flixibus is an alternative.

Currency: Euros! Cards are widely accepted in most places but it’s good to have some cash on you.

Sim Card: Most european sim card should cover Italy as part of roaming. If you’re visiting, I suggest pre-ordering a sim to use.

Handy apps: Omio for transport

Language: Italian. In most touristy places they speak good English so you don’t have to worry. Here are some phrases for you to use:

  • Thank you – Grazia
  • Hello and goodbye – Ciao
  • Excuse me – Mis-cusi
